While people use social media for hundreds of reasons, I have always viewed social media as simply a possible extension of the pulpit or the classroom. While I occasionally post personal photos, the primary reason is to encourage and/or challenge people to seek a closer, more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. I simply want people to seek God, find God, know God, and made God known.

I have never thought about writing a blog until a few weeks ago while having lunch with a friend. He asked me, “Do you feel like you have anything to say to people?” I thought it was a strange question considering I have been preaching and teaching for over 32 years. After some thought, I realized how often while “abiding” (what I call my private time with God) that I desire to share with others what I believe God is teaching me. That I frequently want to pass on the things I see in His Word, or the lessons I am learning through my walk with Christ. So I answered my friend simply, “yes”, and he encouraged me to start a blog. So here I am.

So, if you are reading this I will announce my intentions. I desire to write with the hopes and prayers that somehow my words can encourage, guide, and challenge you to draw closer to Christ each and every day. Without this hope, I simply would just keep these things to myself, write them in my journal, and people can read them when I am dead. But I know how much I have been impacted by the written words of others, so I pray that in some small way, God might use me in the same way. So it begins!
